“God, What Do You Want From Me?”

There are moments when frustration boils over, and the heart cries out, “God, what do You want from me?” It might be whispered in prayer, shouted through tears, or muttered in sheer exhaustion when life feels heavier than you can bear.

Moving From Pain to Purpose

Joseph’s story is raw. His own brothers sold him into slavery and left him for dead. Yet years later, facing those same brothers, Joseph responded with profound perspective:

“You meant evil against me; but God meant it for good.” — Genesis 50:20

Joseph understood that while people may intend harm, God can turn harm into a harvest. Your pain may not have been your choice, but your response is. Joseph chose trust.

Character Over Comfort

Throughout his journey, a single phrase anchors his life: “The Lord was with Joseph.” God was with him in the pit, the prison, and the palace. Joseph didn’t earn favor through comfort; he developed character through hardship. Favor followed him because his heart stayed aligned with God.

According to Micah 6:8, what God wants from us isn't complicated:

• Do Justly: Choose what is right, even when it costs you.
• Love Mercy: Show compassion and forgiveness to others.
• Walk Humbly: Stay teachable and dependent on God.

We cannot walk in God’s favor while walking in our own excuses. Joseph chose obedience over bitterness, and his faithfulness ultimately saved nations.

God wants your heart, your character, and your trust. The same God who was with Joseph is with you today. What others meant for evil, He is already turning for good.
